The MD Walkman attains the world's smallest size and weight through the development of a new optical pickup that has fewer components and through further integration of electrical circuits. Furthermore, by developing a low power LSI using a new process, the world's longest battery life has been achieved, allowing relatively little worry about battery exhaustion. The MZ-R91 offers 29 hour Extended Playback and 14.5 hour Recording Time with a single AA battery and the included rechargeable battery. Shock Resistant Memory resists bumps or vibrations while the laser scans ahead on the disc and stores 40 seconds of music in memory, for uninterrupted, virtually skip-free playback.
